Adsorption Towers: The nitrogen generator comprises two adsorption
towers filled with a molecular sieve material, such as carbon
molecular sieve (CMS). These towers are connected to a compressed
air source.
Adsorption Phase: Compressed air, containing oxygen, nitrogen, and
other gases, enters one of the adsorption towers under high
pressure. The CMS material exhibits a greater affinity for oxygen
molecules than nitrogen molecules. As the compressed air courses
through the CMS, the oxygen molecules selectively adhere to the
surface of the CMS, while the nitrogen molecules pass through and
exit as the desired product.
Nitrogen Production: The nitrogen-enriched gas, possessing a
reduced concentration of oxygen, is collected as the output from
the adsorption towers. This nitrogen gas is typically of
exceptional purity, ranging from 95% to 99.999%.
